Woman captures cat and pit bull snuggling together

The adorable friendship between a pitbull and a cat has captured the hearts of netizens, as their owner shared a clip of the pair cuddling up on TikTok.

The furry duo were described as “brothers” and “best friends” by owner @samantha__.03, who shared a video of her pets, named Ernest and Hemingway, to her account on Wednesday.

Set to the appropriate track Just the two of usby Grover Washington Jr., it shows the four-legged friends near a window, while the dog stretches out to play with the cat’s tail.

The moggy’s plumage is particularly enviable, as Samantha revealed that Ernest is a “pure Russian Maine Coon polydactyl”.

The International Cats Association (TICA) further explained the breed saying, “Despite their size, the Maine Coon cat is sweet, gentle and friendly and gets along with just about anyone.”

This is evident in the video, as Hemingway slaps his friend’s fluffy cock before laying down, seeing Ernest come to snuggle up, before laying back in his arms as the couple snuggle.

“I don’t think I could have had a better time than this,” Samantha captioned the clip, which has amassed over 750,000 views, and can be seen here.

On her account, she said that Hemingway is a blue-nosed pitbull, while in the comments she explained more about the touching friendship of animals.

“They were adopted around the same time so they could grow up together,” she wrote.

And it seems Hemingway is no stranger to hugs, saying, “He loves the tail but his favorite part is the head hoops!”

She continued to rave about her pets, saying, “They’re two cute little ones, aren’t they?!”

Beth Partington52 raves, “They’re cuddling!! The cutest one.”

Roamingwolf asked, “How could the dog resist that amazing cat tail?”

Woodensense admitted, “I said ‘Awwww’ out loud 4 times.”

Whole Body Healing with Jen thought, “This is so precious.”

While CC admitted, “I cried watching this because it’s so beautiful to see.”

Many people commented on the clip, as Jennifer Richardson seemed to reference the reputation of pit bulls, quipped, “Omg that ‘vicious’ dog might hurt the cat. It’s just precious though.”

As Samantha replied, “Soooo vicious!! Lol! They love each other.”

Pit bulls have a mixed reputation in America, as the Encyclopedia Britannica notes: “The name has historically been applied to several breeds of dogs, including the bull terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier, but it does not It is not recognized as a separate breed by the American Kennel Club.

“The United Kennel Club, however, first recognized the breed, which they call the American Pit Bull Terrier, in 1898.

“The American Dog Breeders Association (ADBA), whose main goal is to promote the positive characteristics of the American Pit Bull Terrier, such as loyalty, dedication and athleticism, also recognizes the breed.”

They cited the perception of the dogs as aggressive, which the site apparently explained was due to a resurgence of the breed being used in dogfighting, as well as high-profile attacks.

“Highly publicized attacks on people by dogs identified as pit bulls have led to laws being passed in some jurisdictions banning or restricting the keeping of the breeds.

“Some humane societies routinely euthanize pit bulls that come into their possession, deeming them unsuitable for adoption.

“In response to the breed’s negative reputation, many pit bull owners and owner organizations (such as the ADBA) routinely condemn mistreatment of the breed by irresponsible owners, arguing that any breed of dog is capable of ‘similar aggressive behavior when poorly trained,’ the site continued. .

Figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which date from 1979 to 1996, cite “pit bulls” as being involved in 60 dog bite-related deaths in the United States. This was the highest figure cited, the next highest being attributed to Rottweilers, with 29 deaths.

Overall, he said, “From 1979 to 1994, dog attacks resulted in 279 human deaths in the United States.”
