With inflation at its highest level in 40 years, more and more people are finding it not so easy to keep food on the table as well as the lights on. Unfortunately, pets are also a victim when the economy is in a recession. Local organizations are trying to ease some of these burdens and help keep these animals fed and healthy and able to stay in their homes. One of them is Fido & Friends Pet Food Pantry through NewSong Church in Monroe.
“There is a new pet pantry at NewSong Church in Monroe. It’s called the Fido and Friends Pet Food Pantry,” Tracy Kimler said. “We are having a pet food drive on September 3. You can consult us on Facebook Where instagram. Or contact us by e-mail for more information.
If you are able to donate to Fido & Friends, you can email for more information on how to do so.
In today’s economy, shelters are filling up. One of the reasons why families entrust their pets is that they can no longer afford them. The 2nd reason is health issues.
At Fido & Friends, our mission is to help families keep their pets. We start by providing pet food for those who are struggling to feed their pets. As we grow, we would like to provide other services and basic pet care. It may sound like someone checking daily. Make sure the animal has been properly cared for (food, water, etc.). This may include helping an elderly person take their pet to the vet. Or offer dog walks for those with mobility issues. Helping those who cannot properly care for their pet by providing resources so they can. We would also like to help provide basic veterinary care.
We will also help people understand the importance of having their pets spayed or neutered. Although we understand that not everyone will agree on sterilization issues. We will continue to show compassion towards them. We will share the love of Christ with them. We will provide them with what they need to keep their pets.
For all of this to happen, we will need people. Compassionate people. People who love animals. People who are willing to go the extra mile. Let the light of Christ shine through us as we show compassion to those in need.
