What online retailers can expect as high street traffic increases http://www.colonialbhr.org/what-online-retailers-can-expect-as-high-street-traffic-increases/ http://www.colonialbhr.org/what-online-retailers-can-expect-as-high-street-traffic-increases/#respond Fri, 30 Apr 2021 10:10:57 +0000 http://www.colonialbhr.org/what-online-retailers-can-expect-as-high-street-traffic-increases/

For many, the return of in-store retailing symbolizes the UK’s continued recovery. Signs for the industry are good, with early data from UK retail intelligence firm Springboard revealing that in the first week of UK retail reopening, footfall was only 25% lower than for the same week in 2019.

Springboard also found that the first week of physical trading after the lockdown this year had the same level of sales volume it reached two months after the UK’s initial lockdown in 2020.

But what does this mean for online retailers who have seen such a dramatic change in growth over the past year due to the lockdowns? What can they do to compete with a reinvigorated shopping street and ensure that online retailing is firmly entrenched in the buying habits of consumers?

Oracle NetSuite software company, Retail Industry Manager Zak Rafiq, explains to Retail Insight Network what retailers can expect in the face of growing footfall and why a Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) strategy may be imperative in today’s retail landscape.

The online sales landscape remains solid

Out of nearly 500,000 companies registered in the UK in 2020, [UK printing retailer] Instaprint’s research found that most were retail – especially online and D2C. Those same D2C retailers need to invest in positive online experiences and digital marketing, cultivate a loyal following, and go the extra mile to compete with reopening physical stores.

A successful D2C strategy can put online retailers in control and provide a tremendous opportunity to generate income without the expensive overhead costs associated with physical retail.

An example of this is Petshop.co.uk, which reacted very quickly to changing consumer buying habits during the first lockdown. After seeing a 300% increase in orders during the first lockdown, they had to quickly pivot to offer a “ Bottomless Bowl ” automatic delivery service to meet demand.

This unique service allowed pet parents to choose the food they liked, as well as the frequency of delivery, so they no longer had to carry heavy pet food. Real-time analytics also allowed the team to stay on top of preferences and demand spikes as they occurred.

This is just one example of a brand that makes life as easy as possible for customers and meets their preferences. Why go back to pre-lockdown buying habits when a faster, simpler and more transparent service has been created for you?

Online retailers can leverage their strengths to stay ahead

The fact that e-commerce and social media are intrinsically linked has allowed brands to interact directly with customers through virtual means.

Online retailers tend to have a good understanding of their customer profile and how to communicate effectively with them. This allows retailers to leverage economic efforts like social media marketing to speak directly with existing customers, while reaching new audiences.

Home decor site Cox and Cox has realized the importance of engaging with consumers on social media via foreclosure and now reaping the rewards.

During the lockdown, he achieved 100% year-over-year growth and increased his Instagram following by 70,000 users by quickly tapping into the home decor demand. He recognized a clear opportunity and quickly jumped on it.

Habits and preferences have also changed, and digital natives now expect a smooth customer experience, which online retailers can deliver. Additionally, many online D2C retailers offer free shipping and returns, which increases repeat purchases.

Brands that typically sell to customers in a physical store will need to connect the online and offline experiences as customer expectations change.

It is imperative that brands learn from every transaction to have a truly successful D2C strategy. It is no longer the sole purpose of having an online presence to reach new customers and accessibility, but also to stay up to date with the preferences of current customers.

Are we on the cusp of permanent change?

The simple answer is yes. The shift to online shopping has been a growing trend for years, but the past year has cemented this shift in consumer behavior. IMRG Capgemini Online Retail results for January show UK online sales grew 74% year-over-year in January 2021, the highest growth rate since the start of the first lockdown in UK in March 2020.

A recent report by [independent economics research agency] Retail economics and [UK bank] NatWest found that since the start of the pandemic, almost half (46%) of UK consumers have purchased a product online that they had previously only purchased in stores. The trend has intensified and is likely to continue.

It also means that the opportunity is there for online retailers if they can harness the speed and convenience that has made this channel so successful.

It’s a well-known adage in the retail industry that customers remember service much longer than they remember the price. The past year has seen retailers adapt their customer experience strategies with the goal of generating new revenue and maintaining a loyal and rapidly growing new customer base.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the months to come, as consumers return to Main Street, but what is certain is that while online retailers have taken the time to learn from their customers. and polish their D2C strategies, they’ll enjoy the rest. Success.

Police and crime commissioner hope to tackle dog theft http://www.colonialbhr.org/police-and-crime-commissioner-hope-to-tackle-dog-theft/ http://www.colonialbhr.org/police-and-crime-commissioner-hope-to-tackle-dog-theft/#respond Thu, 29 Apr 2021 12:31:32 +0000 http://www.colonialbhr.org/police-and-crime-commissioner-hope-to-tackle-dog-theft/

Recently, a new police system has been put in place to send pet owners information about dog thefts in their area.

Deputy Chief Constable Deb Smith told the BBC the free alert system was put in place in response to public concerns about dog theft.

We asked the six police and crime candidates what they would do in power to fight crime.

Photos of the six CPC candidates lr Liz Webster (Lib Dem), Jonathon Seed (Cons), Brig Oubridge (Greens), Mike Rees (Independent), Julian Malins QC (Reform UK), Junab Ali (Labor)

CCP Labor hope Junab Ali said, “Dog thefts have increased during confinement and are currently being treated as petty crimes.

“It requires the law to be changed by the central government. As a CCP I can and would like to ensure that pet theft is recorded in Wiltshire crime statistics as a specific crime so that the scale is known and resources can then be targeted. as appropriate, including, if necessary, the appointment of a specialist officer who can liaise with other forces in particular. where organized crime is or may be involved.

“We also need to help owners protect their pets by educating them to keep their pets safe and not to leave them unattended in gardens, ensuring they are microchipped and reporting suspicious activity,” as well as ensuring that animal theft, which leaves many families devastated, is actively investigated. as with other crimes.

Green candidate Brig Oubridge said: “Wiltshire Police, like all police forces (and more than most), lack the resources in terms of the work they have to do and therefore must prioritize crime reports to which it devotes resources.

“Dog theft has been a growing crime over the past year and should be detectable if dogs are microchipped properly.

“The CCP should be able to influence the choice of priorities, and if elected, I will investigate what more could be done, including the extent to which Wilts police have resources or resources. insufficient resources in the technical aspects of chip reading. ”

Conservative candidate Jonathan Seed said dog thefts are heartbreaking and traumatic for owners.

“I will ensure that the message continues to get across to the public that dog owners need to make sure they chip their dog, stay alert and stay away from known hot spots,” he said. added.

“I want to make sure that the chief of police’s focus on organized crime reflects the gang’s targeting of dog owners, and that the chief makes it a priority to ensure that local officers know and understand the anguish this type of crime causes.

“I want to see dog thieves caught and brought to court, and those convicted of such horrific crimes receive punishment commensurate with the grief this crime causes.”

Julian Malins QC, who represents Reform UK, said: “Virginia Bottomley was crazy to abolish dog licenses, which should be reintroduced immediately.

“It’s an animal welfare issue as well as a crime issue.”

Independent candidate Mike Rees said the increase in thefts was due to an increase in the value of dogs and increased demand during the lockdown.

“Although the operational response is the responsibility of the police chief, I hope there is a dedicated SPOC within the force’s intelligence system that collates infractions within the force, in conjunction with d other forces at both regional and national level.

“This will hopefully identify the criminal networks and the individuals involved in such offenses.

Each case should also be given an appropriate response with solid investigative strategies.

“This should be combined with information sharing and public awareness campaigns through social media and other forms of communication.”

Liz Webster, the Liberal Democrat candidate, said: “I started campaigning against the increase in dog theft late last year after noticing repeated reports in my area.

“As a dog lover and owner, losing a dog is horrible, but the angst and heartache of dog theft is so damaging.

“To combat this problem, we need a specific officer to investigate the dog thefts in Wiltshire, in the footsteps of the Nottinghamshire Police.

“And we need to focus on destroying the black market by catching thieves trying to sell dogs and educating the public with clear advice on best pet buying practices.

“Residents have highlighted the problems with reporting dog theft and we need to find solutions to ensure that the reports are taken seriously and followed up.

“Nationally, dog theft must be registered as a specific crime. This is something that I have been asking for and which was one of the key messages from the DogZoom event I hosted last month which was supported by Ricky Gervais, Sara Cox and Clare Balding. ”

Dr Magdoline Awad: Best age for a child to have a dog or a puppy http://www.colonialbhr.org/dr-magdoline-awad-best-age-for-a-child-to-have-a-dog-or-a-puppy-2/ http://www.colonialbhr.org/dr-magdoline-awad-best-age-for-a-child-to-have-a-dog-or-a-puppy-2/#respond Thu, 29 Apr 2021 09:31:03 +0000 http://www.colonialbhr.org/dr-magdoline-awad-best-age-for-a-child-to-have-a-dog-or-a-puppy-2/

Having a pet is a big responsibility to take on, especially when your children are still young. Here are some tips to consider.

There are many factors to consider before introducing a four-legged friend to your family, especially when your children are still young.

Dr Magdoline Awad, chief veterinarian at Greencross The Pet Company and SMARTdaily’s weekly pet columnist, explains

ENLARGING THE FAMILY

My wife and I have considered buying a dog, but we still don’t know if the time is right. We have two children, ages two and four, and we think they would like one. How old do children have to be to present a puppy? We don’t like an older dog. Which breed would you recommend? We have a house with a yard and time for walks. – Zac

While there are no hard and fast rules, there are a few things to consider when considering a new family member.

It is well recognized that pets are good for our health. They provide companionship and can be a source of emotional support for children with developmental disabilities – and children who grow up with pets have fewer allergies.

However, having a pet is a big responsibility to take on. While your children can learn to help, the responsibility will really fall on you until they are much older.

For this reason, some people choose to wait until their children are older before taking on a new pet.

In terms of the dog’s age, it’s true that buying a puppy will likely increase your bond’s closeness, however be aware that it can be like having another baby.

They need a lot of training, especially in the early stages. A dog that is still young but has passed the puppy stage might be a good option.

They always have a way to find a special place in our hearts, regardless of their age.

It is important to be aware of the cost of keeping a dog. The budget should cover systematic parasite prevention, nutrition, grooming and veterinary care.

Consider boarding costs if you don’t plan to take your dog on vacation with you. It would also be a good idea to research pet insurance options.

If you have considered all of the above and are still interested in a new dog, now is the time to think about the breed. Consider your activity level, lifestyle, and time available.

A Cavalier King Charles spaniel needs less exercise than a border collie. Remember that daily walks are ideal for you and the animal.

Dogs such as Golden Retrievers are well known to be good with children.

However, any breed with the right temperament and training can be a great companion.

It is important to note that if you are buying a puppy you should always try to see the environment the dog was raised in and the behavior of the parents.

Crossbreeds are an attractive option, and adopting a pet from a shelter can be rewarding as well. Regardless of the breed, all children should learn to respect an animal’s limits to avoid accidents.

Supervision by an adult at all times is essential. Hygiene practices are also an important area of learning for children.

5 things UK consumers buy online even after a pandemic http://www.colonialbhr.org/5-things-uk-consumers-buy-online-even-after-a-pandemic/ http://www.colonialbhr.org/5-things-uk-consumers-buy-online-even-after-a-pandemic/#respond Thu, 29 Apr 2021 08:33:09 +0000 http://www.colonialbhr.org/5-things-uk-consumers-buy-online-even-after-a-pandemic/

Research shows that 92% plan to continue shopping online for added convenience.

Consumption habits have changed dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic, and new research suggests e-commerce may remain the norm for the foreseeable future. In a new survey by McKinsey, 92% of UK consumers said they would continue shopping online even if it was safe to return to retail in person.

However, this is not true for all consumer goods. In a post-pandemic world, what are the British still buying online? A consumer study suggests that these five categories of goods are purchased online for a long time.

Clothing – but with caveats

According to the McKinsey report, 77% of UK consumers have done the majority of their clothing purchases online in the past year. After the pandemic, 65% of them say their online clothing purchases will stay the same – or increase.

After staying at home for more than a year, Brits are turning to comfortable, personalized clothing, with several top brands even offering DIY tie-dye kits, according to a study conducted by Facebook into 2021 trends and topics. However, the vast majority of those sales went to retailers who had already built strong digital businesses online.

“Even once the foreclosure measures are relaxed, the ease of e-commerce will keep many shoppers online and out of stores,” said Chris Elliott, head of market analysis at Edge by Ascential. “All of this means that Asos and Boohoo are in a strong financial position.”

Stores that had to move quickly to a more online presence, or stores like Primark that refused to do any type of online store, did not get their share of online shopping.

Glasses are in the spotlight

It’s no surprise that in addition to feeling comfortable with tie-dyeing, consumers are also opting for more comfortable eyewear. As many office workers have switched to working from home, the glasses are more practical and comfortable with many options to buy them online. A study by Statista shows that 19% of Britons wear their glasses more, while 34% of Britons wear less contact lenses.

Many fashion bloggers indicate that new eyewear looks have come out and more vintage and timeless looks are like big round glasses.

This research suggests that consumers have opted for comfort, low maintenance, and slow fashion looks during the pandemic, and those preferences will be here to stay as long as they are satisfied by online retailers.

Personal care and beauty help consumers heal themselves

Perhaps because it’s been a tough year, the indulge vibe is so powerful – and more than ever, personal and beauty care products like bath bombs, makeup kits, and beauty treatments. skin are purchased from the comfort of our own homes.

Euromonitor’s international beauty survey showed that 34% of consumers could be considered “digital shoppers,” which they define as having purchased online and influenced by online beauty influencers. Not only that, but 41% of consumers were interested in personalized hair care products purchased online.

“Even when consumers return to salons and spas, home self-care habits will persist as many seek cheaper and convenient options to indulge themselves,” Lisa Holmes wrote in the report. Perhaps because consumers were worried about their finances, many opted for less expensive DIY options rather than splurging on in-person treatments at salons.

In light of these reports, this trend promises to continue even though it is safe to revert to our old normal.

Over-the-counter transformed into an over-the-sofa

The McKinsey report suggests that UK consumers are buying over-the-counter (over-the-counter) drugs and vitamins online and plan to continue doing so.

It is likely that this trend started because he was not sure to go to doctor’s offices and pharmacies, any of which could be frequented by someone sick with the coronavirus. Instead, consumers searched for delivery options online.

Today, nearly 2/3 (64%) of those who have opted to purchase vitamins and medications online say they plan to continue doing so in the future.

Pet care and services can be purchased at home

Another surprising area where consumers have indicated a strong preference for online shopping is in pet care and services.

The McKinsey report showed a sustained shift towards online pet care through and after COVID. Of all the consumer categories examined, pet care was the category with the highest intention to continue buying after COVID, at 54th place.

Compared to categories like tobacco (a score of 10) or alcoholic beverages (with a score of -4), it seems clear that pet owners plan to continue receiving goods and services for their loved ones in ordering online, rather than venturing into pet stores.

A post-COVID world might not look so different

Although many UK shoppers plan to get together with friends and family, go on vacation and hit the pub when it is safe to do so, many of their online shopping habits will remain the same – even when those same retail stores reopen and be safe. to visit.

By locking in and forcing UK consumers to change their habits, retailers should be careful with their new customers online and be prepared to tackle these trends in the future.

Expectations of the grape: the horses and the wine make everything go well | Waco today http://www.colonialbhr.org/expectations-of-the-grape-the-horses-and-the-wine-make-everything-go-well-waco-today/ http://www.colonialbhr.org/expectations-of-the-grape-the-horses-and-the-wine-make-everything-go-well-waco-today/#respond Thu, 29 Apr 2021 05:00:00 +0000 http://www.colonialbhr.org/expectations-of-the-grape-the-horses-and-the-wine-make-everything-go-well-waco-today/

The pet-friendly patio is inviting under your feet with laid artificial turf and a beautiful magnolia mural painted on the exterior brick. Dwarf magnolias dot the patio of planters.

Help companies

While they were eager to launch their new creation, Marty and Marilyn teamed up with Near Southside Inc. to help businesses in the region when needed to keep them going. The private non-profit organization is dedicated to revitalizing the medical district and its surrounding businesses and residential area.

This vision ended up creating the first virtual concert and fundraising format that was used throughout closures across the country.

We chose our table and then went through the menu, each choosing a different wine. It was hard! The Magnolia Wine Bar is retail, so the prices are much better for the customer, but are also very different, offering wines that are not seen in big box retailers. So much to experience!

We chose our wines and ordered hot mixed nuts to accompany them. Thomas Schmitt Kabinett was a perfect choice for my friend, who wanted something not sweet, but not dry. It was well balanced with ripe Granny Smith apples, hints of nectarine and pineapple mixed with hints of honey and a nice crunchy mineral finish.

Moscato Di Asti Cantina Vietto

The Vietti Moscato di ‘Asti is a formidable wine with delicate peaches, roses and ginger honey, ending in apricot.

Vietti Moscato di ‘Asti was chosen by my next friend, and this special frizzante did not disappoint. It was a real performance with delicate peaches, roses and honey ginger, ending with apricot.
